For companies

Two things I do for companies: I tell people what I have done, and I take them out walking. Neither depends on the expedition.

Talks

I tell your people what I did and how I did it. No slogans and no motivational posters.

I am not a professional speaker and I do not have a talk on the shelf to recycle. What I can do is tell one thing I actually did, properly, with my own photographs and video, and answer questions for as long as there are any.

We build the format together: thirty people from one company and two hundred in a theatre are very different evenings.

Formats

  • The evening about the project

Peak Lenin, preparing for eight thousand metres, and what it means to spend years getting ready for something that may not come off. With my own photographs and video.

What I talk about

  • Preparing for years for a goal that might not work out
  • Going up slowly: acclimatisation, pace, decisions at altitude
  • Working with a diagnosis
  • The guide's job: taking a group out and bringing it back

Who it suits

  • Companies who want a real evening rather than a motivational slot
  • Schools and associations

What you provide

  • A room, a projector and sound
  • Some idea of how many people will be there

Team building

A day outdoors led by me as a guide: walking together, with a route and a difficulty chosen for the group you actually are.

Taking groups out has been my job for years. The difference with a company day is that the group did not choose each other. It works just as well, as long as the route and the pace are set properly, and as long as somebody says honestly, beforehand, when something is too much for someone.

I am a qualified lifeguard and I hold BLS and BLS-D certificates.

Formats

  • The day in Liguria

A route set to the group, with the right pace and the right stops. I lead it the way I lead any other group: you walk, you look, you work out where you are.

What I talk about

  • Walking together at different paces without losing anyone
  • Reading the landscape you are crossing
  • Safety as a habit rather than a form

Who it suits

  • Company groups who would rather do something real than something staged
  • Teams who have never seen each other outside the office

What you provide

  • Transport to the meeting point
  • A list of any health or dietary issues, in advance
